E is for…Palm IIIe (continued)

E is for end
Give 3Com an E for effort on this one. The Palm IIIe is somewhat like the Palm V guts in a Palm III case, minus the flash memory. As such, it compares favorably to the now-discontinued PalmPilot Professional, providing faster processing, a better screen, and an integrated memory board. Until someone comes up with the "E8" upgrade, lack of expandability could be this model's downfall. Although it's not the most exciting of this year's bumper crop of Palm devices, the Palm IIIe should help Palm tap an unexplored segment of the handheld computer market.
