I believe! (continued)

And please, Santa could you bring…

A few elves for Handspring
In October I advised handheld newbies to pass up the new Visor from Handspring in favor of the Palm IIIe from Palm Computing. Even though the Visor looked like a good product at a reasonable price, I was concerned about buying from a brand new company like Handspring.

I wish I didn't have to say I told you so, but Handspring has proven me right. The ordering and shipping process is hitting some world-class speed bumps: credit cards double billed, orders lost, three-hour-long telephone hold times. It's too early to tell whether the technical support system -- or, heaven forbid, the hardware itself -- will also have problems. But as you know, Santa, I'm not an optimist when it comes to technology products. If Handspring doesn't turn the situation around very quickly, I'll be ready to tell the Visor to go cuddle up with the Betamaxes in the landfill.

So Santa, how about if you lend Handspring, say, a half dozen of your top elves -- you know, the "superVisors." Your little guys have been getting quality products out the door on schedule for hundreds of years, and that's just what Handspring needs.

Finally, Santa, about that fellow man stuff -- um, a Palm Vx in my stocking would keep me thinking about all my fellow men and women much more efficiently in the coming year...

Technology skeptic Kevin Quin organizes himself in the PDA wilderness of Washington, D.C. He believes Santa uses a Palm device. After all, Santa knows a thing or two about organization. Each year for centuries Santa's been making a list and checking it twice!
