Palm on the farm (continued)

More than just an organizer
While many people feel that the Palm organizer is either a crippled extension to their desktop or something to replace their paper-based organizer, we know the Palm unit is a real computer capable of handling any business task that a desktop machine can. Dan Velasco said in his excellent article in the April edition of PalmPower (available at http://www.palmpower.com/issues/issue200004/faster001.html), "To really become proficient with Graffiti, you need to abandon paper." Well, to become accustomed to this new mobile computing form, you have to abandon the security of your office and desk.

The real power of the Palm computer is the freedom it grants you to escape the confines of your cubicle walls. By getting the most out of your PDA, you can get the most out of your life.

Dave Bennett owned a computer consulting company in San Diego for 15 years and spent the last four years as a Chief Information Officer in Overland Park, KS. Last year he took the plunge into full-time farming where he is actively applying his technology know-how to create a series of Palm applications to help others track and have access to information critical to their success in the farm environment.
