OUTLOOK SYNCHRONIZATION
PocketMirror 3.0 Professional offers an attractive collection of enhancements
By Bob Draper
When Chapura released the latest version of PocketMirror last year, they took a two tiered approach, offering both Standard and Professional versions of this useful and innovative package. Last month, when I discussed how to configure PocketMirror 3.0 Standard, I mentioned that PocketMirror 3.0 Professional (at http://www.chapura.com/html/products/pocketmirror/pro.html) offered a number of key enhancements. This month I'll review those enhancements and discuss whether or not this upgrade is right for you.
If you already own PocketMirror 2.x or PocketMirror 3.0 Standard, then you can upgrade to PocketMirror 3.0 Professional for only $24.95. On the other hand, if you don't already own a copy, the full version could set you back as much as $57.90, depending on which package you purchase. Ordering information is available at https://www.chapura.com/order.html.
Now that you know what price you'll need to pay to get your hands on PocketMirror 3.0 Professional, you can let those numbers simmer in the back of your head while I show you what this upgrade has to offer. Specifically, PocketMirror 3.0 Professional offers ten new features that are not found in the Standard edition. I'll start by discussing general enhancements and then move on to those that are unique to the individual modules.
General enhancements The following features are available in all four main modules. First, PocketMirror 3.0 Professional has support for subfolder categories and category filtering. These two features are configured in the familiar "Categories/Folders" topic. However, a quick glance at Figure A shows that this topic has received a serious face-lift.

The enhanced Categories/Folders topic offers a powerful new option. Roll over picture for a larger image.
In addition to the familiar settings, now included under the Single Folder option, you'll see that PocketMirror 3.0 Professional also gives you the added advantage of using folders, subfolders, and public folders to control your handheld categories. Once you select "Handheld category = Outlook folder" for a particular Outlook module, a subfolder will be created for each of your handheld categories in that module's root folder during your next HotSync. All unfiled items will remain in the root folder.
As with the custom "PalmPilot Category," you can still use Outlook's powerful category features without restrictions. Now you can easily sort and view your tasks by category, using subfolders. While this may seem like a neat, though hardly vital feature, those of you who share access to your Calendar, Tasks, Notes, and so forth with coworkers can see why this is a really useful capability. With your categories separated into individual folders, it's a fairly simple matter to set the permissions on each folder. Now you can tightly control who has access to what information, and your coworkers will only see what applies to them.
