Get ready for the Palm III!
By Chris Brown

Have you caught Palm III fever yet? If you haven't, you must be the only one besides Bill Gates that hasn't been infected-- everyone is pounding on our doors to get their hands on our latest connected organizer. With this kind of demand, we're all working really hard at Palm Computing to get them out the door, onto your local retailers' shelves and into your hot little hands. I'm pulling my share of the weight, too, so I'm going to keep my bit fairly brief this month. Here's a few things to keep you motor running till you get one.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
The first thing that I want to mention is that we've made a lot of changes to the Palm Computing website in time for the arrival of our new Palm III organizer. If you haven't been there in a while, you might want to take a peek at what we've done. Here's a hint to make it a more fun experience: get yourself a Macromedia Shockwave plug-in for your web browser before you type in the following URL: http://www.palm.com. Anyway, besides the bells and whistles, you should be aware that if you've made bookmarks to any pages in the Palm Computing website in the past, especially in the Support section, you'll want to revisit the site again to make sure you are getting the most up-to-date information. Your old bookmarks may still work, but they may also be going to old webpages. It's really important to me personally that you get acquainted with the remodel of our Support section, so let me know if there's anything to do to improve it.

Big Mac attack
Gee, after I wrote this whole thing on Macintosh issues last month, someone in our product marketing department must have been listening and decided that upgrading the current software in the MacPac wouldn't be a bad idea. If you haven't heard, along with our announcement of the new Palm III connected organizer, we also announced an upgrade for the MacPac connection kit.

Actually, it wasn't my writing that inspired an upgradeÐ it was all of you Mac purists out there writing to us over the last several months that made it happen. You'll see that the new software will actually look and act like a Mac OS application because it was written specifically for Mac OS (instead of a port of a Windows program). You should also find that some of the problems I talked about last month will no longer bother you. In short, all of you Mac fanatics won't need to hold your breath anymoreÐ but you will still need to wait till summer to get the free upgrade.

Here, there and everywhere
One of the cool things about the new Palm III connected organizer is that you can synchronize with your Desktop software remotely through a company network. PalmPilot Professional users have been able to do this only with the purchase of Network HotSync software. Now, this is an included feature of the Palm III organizer software. What does this do for you? Well, if your company is fairly spread-out geographically and you find yourself hopping around different buildings, different cities, or even different countries along with your Palm III or PalmPilot Professional organizer, you might have a problem getting back to your PC.
