PALMPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
Michael Jordan Edition Palm handhelds have a new home on the Web
By Steve Niles

If you're a basketball fan, or for that matter, if you pay even cursory attention to the news, you already know that Michael Jordan, pictured in Figure A, is returning to the NBA.

FIGURE A

Michael Jordan displays his palm, not to be confused with his Palm handheld.

What you may not know, however, depending on how closely you follow news in the Palm-related world, is that Jordan has endorsed a line of Michael Jordan edition Palm handhelds. A new Internet site has opened up to market this sports fan's dream, and I've selected it as October's PalmPower Site of the Month. You can find it at http://jordan.palm.com, and it's pictured in Figure B.

Jordan announced his comeback a few weeks ago, saying he would play for the Washington Wizards through 2003. To do his part in these troubled times, he also announced he'll be donating his $1 million salary the first year to victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Both ends of the market are covered, as you can choose between a Jordan Edition Palm m100 and a Jordan Edition Palm m500. Both versions feature a set of exclusive software that was handpicked by Michael. The software includes:

  • MJ Speaks: a collection of quotes from Michael;

  • MJ Trivia: test you knowledge of Michael's career;

  • Blackjack: a fully registered version of the popular card game;

  • Michael's Restaurants: a look at the three restaurants that Michael is associated with, including menus, directions, and a peek at the dessert cart;

  • Total Car MJ: allows you keep track of all of your car care needs from maintenance to registrations and insurance.

  • Tips from Michael's Trainer: provided in cooperation with Michael's official site (at http://jordan.sportsline.com), a selection of advice from Tim Grover, Michael's personal trainer;

  • ShotChart by Digital Scout: instant visual shotchart or stats on screen, individual and team stats;

  • MJ Pinball: arcade fun.
