PALMPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
PalmBooks provides a library of free ebooks
By Steve Niles
In his PalmPower series on ebooks, Sam Kleinman talks about where to find ebooks on the Web. June's PalmPower Site of the Month is yet another great resource, and this one is completely free. It's called PalmBooks, and you can find it at http://www.palmbooks.org. It's pictured in Figure A.

PalmBooks is a site dedicated to free books for the Palm OS. One of the distinguishing features is that all of the items (unless otherwise indicated), are in the industry open PalmDOC format. If you're not familiar with it, it's the one format that all readers can open and use. This is extremely useful if you have an older model handheld.
The site currently has slightly over 2,000 links to books already formatted for download and use. PalmBooks takes submissions as well, and all the converting and proofreading of the files is done by the site's owner, Steele Smith.
If you're looking for some fun and free ebooks, or if you're looking to publish your own ebooks, check out PalmBooks at http://www.palmbooks.org.
