LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Looking for the cutting edge
This month's Letters to the Editor features a letter we received from a UI designer at Broderbund who tells us what he'd like to see covered in PalmPower.

Love the site
I read your site daily on my Handspring Prism. I love the information you and your team provide. I am curious why there was no mention of the new Sony NX-70 device? If you're not familiar with it, it's the only handheld I am aware of running Palm OS 5.0, and it's the fastest Palm OS device at 200mhz. I'd like to hear more about products like the NX-70 that are cutting edge. Not the Treo…boring!

Anyway just my two cents on what I'd like to read about! Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz responds
Thanks! The reason we haven't reviewed the NX-70 (doesn't that sound like an Acura model?) is because it's not yet shipping. As a rule, we only review shipping items. Rest assured, as soon as it's available in the form consumers can see, we'll give it our famous thrice-over. In fact, Claire Pieterek, our toughest reviewer (and perhaps one of the toughest reviewers anywhere) has been waiting impatiently to get her hands on one.

What do you do for Broderbund? I'm a long-time fan of your products.

Eric responds to the response
I am a UI designer. I design the look of many of the products here (PrintMaster, PrintShop, etc.) and create much of the art and graphics for the various products. Glad you like our products!

I got my first handheld (Handspring Prism) about a year ago... I really love it and the ability to read Web sites (such as yours) on it wherever I go. I had no idea how powerful these little things were and what they could do. One of the things I do with mine is take photos. You can view them if you'd like at http://lightfantastic.org/eye/ericfalk/.

By the way, I didn't mean your article on the Treo was boring! I meant I find the direction Handspring has been taking not to be as exciting as, say, when they first introduced the Visor line.
