An introduction to PalmPilot email Do you go through Internet or email withdrawal whenever you're not tethered to your computer's monitor? Do you pine away for your email messages whenever you're on the road? Are you a super-connected Internet email jock who needs to be connected even when you can't plug in and jack on? If so, PalmPilot email is the way to go. In this extremely valuable article, PowerBoard Hostess Claire Pieterek tells us how PalmPilot email works and reviews a number of powerful software email clients that run on the Palm device. Now you can get your email no matter where you go. That's a good idea, right? Hmmm...
Using a keyboard with your PalmPilot Graffiti is swell, but wouldn't it be cool to have a keyboard for your PalmPilot? Well you can and in this helpful article, Fredlet tells you how. Now you can be on the go and still answer your email and write notes that are longer than a sentence. Want proof? Fredlet's entire article was written using a keyboard on a PalmPilot.
Getting the most out of PalmPilot graphics functionality There may only be 160 dots across and down a Palm device's screen, but you can display a lot of information in that small space. In fact, you can display maps, diagrams, charts, and other helpful reference information right on your PalmPilot, and Chris tells you how. He also helps you understand which pictures will display well and which won't -- a great time-saving tip.
Importing JFile databases Did you know you could set up your own custom databases on your PalmPilot? Well, you can and JFile is one program that makes it possible. In this hands-on article, Jason Perlow takes you through an important part of the process -- importing information from your PC into the database. This one's too handy to pass up!
Claris, Conduits, and QSync for your Mac Mac champion Jim DeLaHunt again comes to the rescue of Macintosh users in this great article. There's a new Mac Desktop on the way and Jim gives you a sneak preview. Plus he tells you about new ways to connect your Mac applications to your PalmPilot apps, and showcases a really slick way to link the QMate checkbook program on the PalmPilot with Quicken on your Macintosh.
QMate: Quicken's PalmPilot companion No matter where you go, you need to write checks and record the information. While it may seem overkill to use a PalmPilot as a checkbook recording device, it's not. Using the PalmPilot prevents math errors (and that means no bounced check fees). Plus, if you record your checking information into your PalmPilot, you can upload that information to Quicken without retyping it (avoiding the potential for even more errors). This article tells all about QMate, a product that records checkbook information on your PalmPilot and synchronizes it with Quicken on both Macs and PCs.
FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
A more perfect Palm Desktop Do you like the Palm Desktop application? Do you think it could be better? So does PalmPower Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz. In this trend-setting article, he outlines PalmPower's recommendations for a new and improved desktop design. It's the Palm Desktop we all wish we had. Also, David bids a fond farewell to one overworked columnist and welcomes another. Plus, there's a great way to win a leather PalmPilot jacket, but you'll have to read this article before July 5th to find out how.
TECH SUPPORT INSIDER
Upgrading to Palm Desktop 3.0 Did you know you could get some Palm III functionality right now, for free--even if you use a PalmPilot or earlier machine? We didn't either. But Tech Support Insider Chris Brown tells us about the Palm Desktop 3.0 application. It's cool. It's new. It's free. And you can download it today!
PROGRAMMING POWER
Utility routines for programmers If it weren't for intrepid programmers, we wouldn't have all the cool Palm software we use every day. Programming is tough work, but someone's got to do it. If you're one of those programmers (or if you're learning how), this article will be a real score. In it, our Programming Power columnist Alan Jay Weiner introduces a number of very simple routines that can improve your programs and save you a ton of programming time. Now, maybe -- just maybe -- you can get that sleep you've been dreaming about.
